Brazil's grid code framework — the Procedimentos de Rede — is a modular technical regulation organized into submódulos. Any generator interconnected to the Sistema Interligado Nacional (SIN) — Brazil's continental-scale grid spanning 220+ GW of installed capacity — must comply with the relevant submódulos as a condition of operation in the Brazilian wholesale market.
The framework is administered jointly: ANEEL sets the regulation, ONS operates the system and reviews technical submissions, and EPE handles energy planning. Together with the generator agents (the IPPs, utilities and traders that compose the Mercado de Curto Prazo), they form the regulated ecosystem an independent filings practice has to navigate.
